November 23, 1998 The 1st MICO/CORBA workshop in Darmstadt, Germany

On November, the 23rd, the 1st MICO/CORBA workshop was held at the "Technologiezentrum der Deutschen Telekom" (research center of the German telecom) in Darmstadt.

Among other topics, KDE developer Torben Weis talked about KDE/CORBA integration. See the MICO web site for more information.

June 3-5, 1998 The 5. International Linux Congress in Cologne, Germany

At the Linux Congress, there were several talks about KDE, conducted by people from or well known to the KDE Team:

  • Kalle Dalheimer, Matthias Ettrich: Tutorial about KDE programming
  • Warwick Allison: QtScape: Netscape Port to Qt
  • Torben Weis: CORBA OpenParts
  • Matthias Ettrich: Multi-Toolkit Programming
  • Kalle Dalheimer: KDE - The 2. Year

In addition to these talks, there was a KDE booth staffed by KDE developers in the exhibition hall.

June 17-21, 1998 The 1998 USENIX Annual Technical Conference New Orleans, USA
  • Bernd Johannes Wuebben: The K Desktop Environment
June 27-28, 1998 The LinuxTag at the Unix-AG in Kaiserslautern, Germany

There was two talks about KDE at the LinuxTag:

  • Matthias Hölzer: KDE - Ein Überblick
  • Burkhard Lehner: KDE Programmierung

In addition to these talks, there was a KDE booth staffed by KDE developers in the exhibition hall.

June 27, 1998 The UKUUG Linux Conference 98 at the Manchester Conference Center, UK

There was a talk about KDE Internals at the UK UNIX User Group Linux Developers Conference by Richard Moore (rich@kde.org). The presentation gave developers and system administrators an understanding of the architecture of KDE.
