February 26-27, 2005 Fosdem, Brussels, Belgium

A large number of KDE hackers meet up with each other in the capital of Europe during this year's FOSDEM conference.

The speakers list for FOSDEM 2005 included some prominent KDE developers like Matthias Ettrich, Alexander Dymo and Harald Fernengel. We also had several talks in the KDE developers toom. Event report.

March 05-06, 2005 Chemnitzer Linux-Tage

KDE was demonstrated at Chemnitzer Linux-Tage.

Kurt Pfeifle ran a workshop demonstrating FreeNX and a talk with his favourite KDE tips and tricks.

March 10-16, 2005 CeBIT, Hannover, Germany

KDE had a stall at CeBIT.

There were be a number of KDE related talks. Torsten Rahn talked about starting with KDE and Desktop Administration with KDE and Kiosk. Klaus Knopper talked on The Future of Knoppix. Author of Scribus Franz Schmid talked about DTP on Unix. Finally Daniel Molkentin talked on KDE's PIM suite Kontact.

May 29 - 31, 2005 GUADEC 2005, Stuttgart, Germany

Several KDE developers attended GUADEC 2005, the annual GNOME User and Developer European Conference.

June 1 - 4, 2005 6th International Free Software Forum, Porto Alegre/RS, Brazil

The 6th International Free Software Forum was attended by Helio Castro, Andras Mantia and Thiago Macieira. Andras gave a talk on Quanta.

June 22 - 25, 2005 LinuxTag 2005, Karlsruhe, Germany

LinuxTag is Europe's largest Linux conference and exposition. KDE was present in the exhibition hall with a booth again, and several KDE developers gave talks and tutorials for interested visitors.

July 1 - 6, 2005 Linux Desktop Development and KDevelop Developers Conference 2005, Kyiv, Ukraine

The Linux Desktop Development and KDevelop Developers Conference was a place to share knowledge about desktop development on Linux platform organized by the KDevelop Team and OSDN Ukraine (Open Source Developers Network). With a large number of KDevelop IDE developers coming, the conference was the single most comprehensive place to learn about effective desktop development on Linux platform directly from the experts.

August 9 - 11, 2005 LinuxWorld Conference and Expo SF 2005, San Francisco, USA

The K Desktop Environment was again present with a booth at the LinuxWorld Expo which was being held in San Francisco August 9 through 11.

August 27 - September 4, 2005 aKademy 2005, Málaga, Spain

KDE's World Summit, aKademy 2005, was held in the University of Málaga from Saturday 27th of August to Sunday 4th of September with the non-public KDE e.V. meeting on Friday 26th August. The summit started with a 2 day user conference followed by a 2 day developers conference then a week long coding marathon. More info: http://conference2005.kde.org

October 13 - 14, 2005 Open Source Desktop Workshops, San Diego, USA

Open Source Desktop Workshops are affordable educational events that bring top-flight Open Source desktop developers together with those who are looking to gain the skills necessary to join them. The aim of these workshops is to extend the reach of Open Source desktop technology in North America by helping software developers across the continent gain the knowledge and know-how necessary to write quality software using these technologies.

October 21 - 22, 2005 Berlinux 2005, Berlin, Germany

KDE was present at Berlinux in the exhibition with a booth again.

October 24 - 28, 2005 Systems 2005, Munich, Germany

KDE was present at Systems in the exhibition with a booth.

October 29, 2005 Linux-Info-Tag Dresden 2005, Dresden, Germany

KDE was present at Linux-Info-Tag Dresden with both a stand and a talk. The KDE stand was run by Carsten Niehaus, Alexander Neundorf, Oswald Buddenhagen and Tobias König with sporadic help from Josef Spillner, Konrad Rosenbaum and Friedrich Kossebau. Our stall was next to Skolelinux and emphasised KDE-Edu and KDE-PIM. The talk by Tobias König (in German) gave information about the current state and future plans of KDE.

November 15-17, 2005 LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, Frankfurt/Main, Germany

LinuxWorld in Germany. KDE had a booth. in the exhibition area. Martin Konold and Daniel Molkentin gave a training session about KDE Kolab Deployment.

November 19, 2005 Semaine québécoise de l'informatique libre 2005, Québec, Canada

As part of the Semaine québécoise de l'informatique libre 2005 that took place between 12 and 20 November 2005 in Québec, Canada, Cristian Tibirna gave a talk about KDE on November 19.

November 25-26, 2006 GNU/Linux Day 2005, Naples, Italy

Taking part in the Italian Linux Day 2005, a nationwide event with local groups showing Free Software in each cities, Giovanni Venturi gave a talk named "KDE 3.5 e dintorni" at the programm in Naples on November 25.
